Specialised Support

English Language Tuition:
The College has an Accredited Language Centre and offers intensive English Language tuition on Campus. An arrival our international students are assessed to determine their language proficiency. Depending on their needs, they complete a ten or twenty week program in the Language Centre to prepare them for mainstream classes and to introduce them to the Australian education system and culture. An orientation program, tours and excursions are part of the learning and integration process. We believe that tailoring the program to individual needs is important so that English skills can develop more quickly. We ensure maximum support for all students by offering a pre-VCE study program and by gradually integrating students into mainstream classes.

ESL classes:
Specialised English as a Second Language classes run at Year 10, 11 and 12. These programs combine both local and international ESL students with specialised staff to foster continued improvement in English and to maximise results in this area.

Student Welfare:
As well as a strong academic program Templestowe College provides a high level of personal care for students.
The College is committed to providing a safe and successful experience for all our students
The Senior School Principal, Mrs Sally Holloway, as Director of Welfare oversees the International Program.
The International Student Coordinator is Mrs Angela Hoptroff, whose sole responsibility is to provide care and support while closely monitoring the students’ progress. She selects homestay families to ensure that students are well cared for and are in a safe and secure environment. She and Mrs Margaret Wong, our multicultural aide who speaks Mandarin and Cantonese, maintain regular contact with parents, and homestay families.
Specialised career and course counselling is provided by our Careers Coordinator, Mrs Helen Ogg. Picture?
