General Information

This section is to provide some information to people who might be interested in working at a school which is determined to be one of the most innovative and exciting schools in Australia. This applies to both teaching and non teaching staff. We have a "One Staff" policy at TC, and value and respect all staff equally.

If you think you might be suited to the school then I would encourage you to make contact, preferably by email for a start. You may want to attach a brief CV but this is not essential, what I do want to know is about your creativity and passion for educating young people. We do have a lot of people both teaching and non-teaching who have registered their interest in working at our school, so please don't be upset if your enquiry does not result in a job at TC.

What we also want to do is provide moral and professional support to all creative and dynamic teachers to make a difference in their existing schools as well. I am not totally sure of how to do this yet, but I do have some ideas. If you have suggestions about how we might provide this support I am keen to hear from you.

The qualities we are looking for in our staff include but are not limited to:

  • A passion for helping young people achieve their goals
  • Highly developed ICT skills and an ability to use these to assist learning
  • An enjoyment for working both inside and outside their own area of expertise
  • Being a good role model as a life-long learner
  • Being able to demonstrate how they know when students are making progress
  • Being skilled at motivating students
  • Being adaptable and flexible

The more positive adult role models in the classroom the better - Student teachers

As a school we believe that the more caring and capable adults modelling positive learning behaviours that students are exposed to in their classes the better. We strongly encourage student teachers to take placements of between 3 weeks and 6 months in the school. These graduates work in tandem with our own experienced teachers in the delivery of the curriculum and often team teach to provide greater access to expertise and assistance for our students. All student teachers undergo a screening process and our existing staff retain the responsibility for the class. We also encourage parents and other adults to provide assistance in our classrooms particularly working with advanced students or those requiring extra assistance.
