Just not happy at School?

Life is too Short!

Find out why Templestowe College might be the right school for you!

Enrolment Process

At Templestowe College we believe that the best way to decide if this is the right school for you is to have an individual discussion with us where we talk about what you and your family want from your education. This will usually include a tour of the school where you can see our learning community in operation rather than a special program conducted on an Open Day.

We do appreciate that some families who are making initial enquiries may like to just look around and hear what is happening from the Principal. To cater for this we offer both tours during the day and twilight tours. We think it is always best to see schools in operation, but understand that with the many demands facing families this is not always possible.

Templestowe College conducts a series of advertised school tours in Terms 1 - 3. All tours commence at 9:30am and run for between 1 and 1.5 hours. In Term 4 all school tours will be by appointment only and will usually go for no more than one hour, but we reserve the right to have multiple families on each tour.

Please contact the College to book a tour. Please note that group tours are not recommended for students wishing to enrol at any year level other than Year 7.

We work closely with many primary schools in the surrounding areas, assisting with transition evenings, and meeting with the Grade 6 students and their teachers as part of the overall transition process. The enrolling of students from Grade 6 is jointly managed with the local primary schools, following statewide procedures. Parents are strongly encouraged to visit the school or talk to the Principal before making an enrolment decision.

For other levels, enrolments are managed by the Principal or Assistant Principals.

Transition

Templestowe is a dynamic community and is skilled at managing students entering the College at Year 7 or at Year 8 to 12. Likewise our students are friendly and welcoming to new students. We often achieve particular success with providing a new start to students who have been bullied in previous schools. Our Year 7 transition program beginning in August each year is unparalleled in assisting students to make a smooth transition. This includes all students receiving their Netbook computer to develop their keyboarding skills and keep in contact with the College over the Christmas Break!

International Student Enrolment

International student enrolment is handled centrally through the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. Parents of students from overseas are asked to contact our International Student Coordinatory, Angela Hoptroff who will be happy to assist you. We have staff at the school who can offer enrolment assistance in Mandarin, Cantonese and Vietnamese.

Enrolment in the Current Year

Parents and students considering enrolment at Templestowe College in the current year are asked to contact the College and make an individual appointment with the Principal, Peter Hutton.

Year 10 to 12 students considering the "hands on” VCAL (Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning) will meet with program coordinator and Assistant Principal, Sally Holloway.

In the interview the student will be asked about their interests, personal goals, which subjects they enjoy and don't enjoy and possible career directions. Interviews take place in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Students are asked to bring:

  • their birth certificate;
  • their last school report;
  • their passport and visa (overseas students)

Integration Program / Special Needs

Recognised for its safe and caring environment Templestowe College is often approached to enrol students with special needs. As such we need to ensure that we do not overstretch our integration resources and can continue to provide high quality support to our existing students. We are committed to help each child achieve their potential regardless of circumstances and are certainly happy to accept enrolments from students with special needs for whom we are the local school. If in doubt please contact the Principal.
