Rather than students being allocated a staff member to care for them, students in consultation with their parents have a significant input in selecting their Learning Mentor. The Learning Mentor has a small group of students to care for, whom they have also agreed to make a personal commitment to helping in their learning and personal development. This person is one of a parents' key links to Templestowe College. This person will not generally play a direct disciplinary role with the student but may act as an advocate for the student in all school matters. Learning Mentors will be reviewed annually but students may have the same Learning Mentor for many years, or conceivably their whole time at the College.
